Life insurance underwriting for CAD - Coronary Artery Disease:

Life Insurance Questionnaire (A new window will open, giving you a secure environment to submit info)

Coronary Artery Disease, also known as CAD is the most common type of heart disease in the United States.  CAD is also one of the main health issues we work with when helping our clients with a history of heart disease obtain life insurance.  CAD life insurance underwriting is more complex than traditional life insurance underwriting due to the fact that there are so many variations of coronary artery disease and each individual is unique.  The good news is that we have a number of impaired risk life insurance companies available and know how to help you obtain life insurance if you have a history of CAD - Coronary Artery Disease.

Overview:

Coronary Artery Disease, also known as CAD occurs when plaque builds up in your coronary arteries.  As this plaque builds up, your arteries narrow and may cause conditions such as Angina (chest pain), heart attacks, blockages in your arteries that may require treatment with medication, angioplasty, heart bypass surgery, or a combination of treatment, lifestyle changes, etc.  From a CAD life insurance standpoint, we will help you get the coverage you need at the most competitive rates available based on your individual health issues.  Life insurance underwriting for CAD will vary depending on the type and severity of your CAD....Let us help you get the coverage you need.

CAD Diagnosis:

Many times, the initial tipoff to your doctor that you may have CAD may have started with a blood test, cholesterol test, or maybe your blood pressure readings were outside of normal ranges.

Your doctor may have you get some tests to see if CAD exists or to determine the extent of your CAD.  Some of those tests that you may have had are:

Electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) - An EKG measures your heart's electrical system to see if it is performing properly.  The results of the EKG may prompt your doctor to order additional tests or your doctor may conclude that no additional tests are necessary.

Stress Test - A stress test is an EKG that is performed while you are exercising..maybe walking on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike.

Angiogram - Is where dye is injected into your arteries usually via the artery in your leg.  An X-ray is then taken to see if any of your arteries are clogged.  Your physician may have even performed angioplasty at the same time if there is a blockage in one of your arteries.

Echocardiogram - is a test performed to provide images of your heart and to detect damage.

SPECT - is a nuclear scan where your doctor will inject Cardiolite into your arteries in order to see if damage exists.

PET Scan - After you receive an injection, cameras are able to see how your heart is working.

CT Scan or EBCT Scan - are detailed scans of your arteries to determine extent of damage if any to your heart.

Important to Note about CAD Life Insurance:

When we speak, we'll ask you some questions related to your health history.  We do this to find out exactly what condition you have, treatment that may have taken place as well as your current health.  We do this so that we don't waste your time providing you with unrealistic life insurance quotes.  Don't worry if you do not know all the answers, we'll tell you where to find the answers or what questions to ask your heart doctor.  We'll work with you every step of the way to help you.

Another important Note about CAD Life Insurance Underwriting - If your doctor has asked you to have a test performed but you decided to skip that test, life insurance companies will penalize you!  It is important to life insurance underwriters that you actually have the tests performed that your heart doctor is requesting, or to have some kind of notes in your health files from your doctor indicating that it was ok to skip that heart test.  Again, we are here to help you get the life insurance coverage you want at the best possible rates based on your individual health.

What to Expect from CAD Life Insurance Underwriting:

Life Insurance Questionnaire (A new window will open, giving you a secure environment to submit info)

CAD Life Insurance underwriting is complex and every individual is unique.  The best way to handle your life insurance if you have CAD is to go through our informal process first.  This allows us to summarize your health information and to send it to impaired risk life insurance underwiters at a number of life insurance companies.  This will save you from having to fill out multiple life insurance applications upfront, and will also save you from future problems with life insurance companies due to having multiple "hits" on your MIB - Medical Information Bureau file.

Once we have your information, we will send it to life insurance underwriters for preliminary quotes.  It typically takes a few days to a week to receive feedback from all life insurance underwriters.  Once we receive that feedback, we will contact you with this information and provide you with estimates of the cost based on underwriting feedback.  If you decide to apply for coverage, a licensed agent will help you with your application to the insurance company.  Upon approval, you will receive a policy and have a period of time to decide whether you want to accept the policy.  There is never any cost to you to apply to an insurance company and you are under no obligation.  If you are declined by a company or receive a rate that is less favorable than expected, your agent will review with you and help you with your next steps.

At LifeInsuranceAdvisors.com, our service is a no pressure, no obligation service. We'll give you the information you need to make an informed decision about your life insurance.
